The Australasian Golf Museum is located in the heart of the historic Central Highland Township of Bothwell. It houses the most comprehensive collection of golfing memorabilia in the Southern Hemisphere including icons of Australian men and women champions and antique hickory woods. The Australasian Golf Museum was created to preserve the traditions of the game of golf in Australia and tells the story of how golf evolved from a crude game played by a handful of villages on Scotland's east coast, to now being a truly international game, and Australia's most popular participation sport. Many of Tasmania's champion golfers are featured, from Australia's first born champions, the Pearce Brothers, to Lucy Arthur, Len Nettlefold, Elvie Whitesides, the Toogoods and the Goggins. The Australasian Golf Museum was instigated by legendary Tasmanian golfer Peter Toogood. Hailing from a long line of golfing professionals, Peter's own career included winning the Australian Amateur, a Silver Medal as leading Amateur in the British Open, member of Australia's first Eisenhower Cup champion team, countless state and international Amateur titles and the World Record for the youngest golfer to have a hole in one.
