I am a 20 year old guitar player/university student. I have been learning since I was around 10 years old. Classically trained at the Wollongong Conservatorium of music, I received guitar lessons for about 6 years, and participated in a number of orchestras and guitar trio's. After high school I continued to teach myself guitar and branched out into different genre's. I received a number of lessons throughout 2013, but now continue to teach myself as well as other students. I play guitar with my father in my local church choir every Sunday morning, and attempt to play with friends where possible. I have been tutoring for about a year, and have definitely developed great teaching methods over the course. Overall I try to make lessons enjoyable. I may initially begin teaching a student basic classical technique because I believe it to be a great place to start, but I want my students to choose which songs they would prefer to learn later down the track. My lessons are structured so that students will learn the essentials in understanding the guitar, posture, reading music and basic musical theory. This sets them on a path to be able to teach themselves in the future and learn how to get what they want out of playing the instrument. I encourage students to have different goals in mind for this purpose, which also helps me choose the best approach in teaching students to get what they want out of the guitar. My available times are centered around late afternoons (3-7p.m.) during the week (Subject to negotiation). On Weekends I am available all throughout, subject to negotiation.
