My name is Will, For students interested in Maths, Specialist or Physics: I take a different approach to Maths and Physics to what most schools take. A lot of schools focus on the student being able to identify a problem, and knowing what steps need to be taken in order to find the solution. I think this is a good method, but one also needs to be able to know what is happening during the question, and this is only achieved by a true understanding of what is going on when you're performing algorithms. I want my students to be able to properly understand the question, as appose to simply memorising the steps of how to solve it. The reason this is important, is because every single year, without fail, these subjects during the exam will throw a question at the student with a trick in it. If you have memorised how to solve the problem, then you will get it wrong because of the trick, but if you have a proper understanding, then you will get the answer right, while all other students don't, this will hugely increase your chance at a high ATAR, so I consider it very important. For students interested in Music: I play drum kit, I'm able to teach drum kit if the student is also a drummer, but for non drumming students I have a strong grasp on musical knowledge as I have been studying it as my breadth at uni, and am in a band where I have exercised the theory in order to create music. I think that music is taught in such a way where the theory is very confusing, as it can be because there are many exceptions to the rules, but if you have a proper understanding of the theory, then these exceptions will make sense. So my desire is to make music theory as straight forward as possible, which is surprisingly straight forward, considering how convoluted it is.
