PERSONAL EXPERIENCE My own education broadened when I became a Music Scholarship student at a private school. I became inspired by teachers who did not limit their teaching but provided opportunities that I would have never had experienced without their influence. Even through their absence, these teachers continue to play an important part in my own choices and personal development. I have performed and led orchestras around the world, had my composition performed by the Maggini Quartet and composed an A Cappella for a Concert for the Queen's Jubilee. I have featured with Andrea Bocelli on the National Lottery Show and have performed with Daniel Beddingfield. I aim to have the impact and lasting influence on my own pupils in the same way that these key teachers have had throughout my own education and adult life. PIANO AND VIOLIN Stimulating piano, violin and music theory lessons are provided for all ages and abilities and tailored around the individual's specific requirements. Pupils will learn on a baby grand piano or their own violin. All pupils are provided with the tools to become an independent learner and the resources to have a good understanding of music theory and technique that will last a lifetime. PRE-SCHOOL AGED 3+ It is such a joy to see a child's face light up when they can play 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star' within their first two lessons; A delight to learn that a 3-year-old is practicing independently and enjoying their performance; An amazing experience to accompany a 4-year-old to their first exam. Children from as young as 3-years-old are taught the skills required to become a professional. With sticker work, colourful illustrations and various games, your child will quickly gain knowledge without realising they are being educated. Modern technology, including backing tracks engage the younger pupil and makes practising an enjoyable experience. HSC PUPILS Having been Head of Music in the UK and Australia, I have structured lessons to support pupils taking Music at school. These lessons are provided for short or long periods to assist pupils with their performance, composition and theory to help them to gain a higher grade for their HSC. ADULTS Adults have different motivations for wanting to learn an instrument. Lessons are tailored to develop basic technique, improvisational and compositional skills, learn pieces for a particular occasion or for training teachers who are wanting to improve their performing and sight-reading skills to have the ability to accompany their pupils. MUSIC THEORY Music theory is often taught in a painstaking way that requires the pupil to learn and memorise several methods in order to answer the questions correctly. I simplify the tasks so that pupils learn one method to answer all questions within that section. From the beginner to those who have been struggling with theory, I endeavour to remove all difficult obstacles to learn with ease. Individuals learn in their own unique way, therefore I have developed several methods to teach each category in an effective and enjoyable manner. My flexible lessons can be taught weekly, for short or long periods, or as an intensive course. They can be taught in Lane Cove or by using the Internet (via Skype) in the comfort of the pupil’s home.
