HELLO! As a university graduate and pre-service teacher, I understand that study can be overwhelming at times. As a tutor, I can teach you important and fun study skills so that you can take control of your learning. I specialise in tutoring high school and tertiary students, but I can also offer support for primary aged siblings upon request. Please feel free to enquire about my qualifications and experience in specific subject areas and topics. WHAT WILL TUTORING BE LIKE? In our first session we will work out a study plan together. This first session is free from charge and casual so we can get to know each other. I want to know what you are interested in learning, what you are having trouble with, and what you hope to get out of tutoring. In our sessions I will help you to understand the concepts you are struggling with, but more importantly, I will help you develop critical thinking skills so that you will know how to tackle assignments and exams (especially important for QCS and university study). If you feel that you just need someone to sit down and explain information in a different way, I am happy to work through this with you in any of the subjects listed below. INFORMATION FOR PARENTS I specialise in teaching study skills to students that are falling behind in school or unmotivated to study. My personal pedagogy (style of teaching) focuses on facilitated learning, by supporting students to become self-directed learners that take initiative and responsibility in their education. I like to collaborate with students in creating a study plan that is sustainable, time efficient, and enjoyable. I can also help to interpret school and tertiary assessment in way that is understandable to you so that you can stay involved in your child’s education with minimal supervision. LOCATION I am happy to come to you at home or in a library (depending on location and accessibility) or at my home in East Brisbane (on condition that another adult is present for security purposes if under 18).
