Hi. I’m Anthony Fitzgerald. Chemistry has been a big part of my life for more than 35 years. After finishing year 12 in 1978 (HSC as it was known back then) I completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Organic Chemistry at Monash University. My first full time job was as a Scientist at the Geelong Hospital in the Department of Chemical Pathology. During the 13 years I was there I also completed a Post Grad Diploma of Computing from Deakin University. In 1998 I began a Post Grad Diploma of Education at Melbourne University and from 1999 onwards I have been employed as a general science teacher and VCE Chemistry Teacher in various schools in Geelong. I am currently teaching at Saint Ignatius College Drysdale. At various stages of my life I have also been employed as a chemistry demonstrator in the undergraduate labs at Monash and Deakin Universities, worked in the laboratory at Shell Refinery and spent time at various forensic science labs in Melbourne. I’m delighted to say that everything I teach my chemistry students I use to do on a daily basis. I enjoy chemistry and love sharing my knowledge and experiences with my students.
