Hi! I'm currently studying for my undergraduate science degree at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Chemistry with a co-curricular Pure Mathematics diploma. I'm passionate about science and I enjoy teaching because it allows me to share my enthusiasm with others. I graduated from secondary school in 2011 with an ATAR of 97.6, achieving raw scores of 44 for English and History of Revolutions, 38 in Chemistry and Maths Methods, and 40 for Music Style & Composition. I have completed grades 2-6 AMEB Music Theory with Honours. Additionally, in March 2011 I was a finalist in the Lions Club Youth of the Year Public Speaking competition. I'm a Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholar at the University of Melbourne, and in 2013 I was involved in peer mentoring in high school science classes as part of the In2Science volunteer program. I want to help students with their education so they are not only motivated to achieve, but so they gain a thorough understanding of the subject. I have a sound knowledge of my chosen areas and the Victorian curriculum, and I can communicate clearly and effectively. During VCE, I assisted my friends and peers in their areas of difficulty, with great success. This also helped me to gain a better understanding of the concepts and skills required for my subjects. I have several years of successful tutoring experience, with students and parents alike pleased with renewed progress and enthusiasm for their studies. I am a friendly and approachable individual. As a tutor I'm enthusiastic, knowledgeable, patient and supportive. I always work with a positive attitude and I aim to make learning an enjoyable experience for students. SUBJECTS I offer tutoring in VCE - Chemistry - Maths Methods - English - Literature - History (Revolutions) and in - Maths years 7-10 - General science - History years 7-10 - AMEB music theory grades 2-5 * I can also tutor first year uni chemistry. When I teach, I also aim to improve these important general skills: - writing skills - analysing questions - problem-solving strategies - general revision and exam preparation - ability to learn from mistakes - neat and clear setting out (for maths) - arithmetic strategies LESSON STRUCTURE According to student's needs. Lessons can be problem-based, or designed to improve general understanding of an area. Depending on the type of lesson, I will provide problems, worksheets, and/or notes.
