A fourth year university student, I have fairly extensive tutoring experience and greatly enjoy sharing my interest in and knowledge of the humanities with my students. I find it best to discuss things with my students--putting things into context and making connections with previous areas of study--before working through a task together with the aim of then allowing the student to work on the particular task or problem more independently, able to ask questions or seek clarification from me where possible. It is, in my view, then important to review the student's work, noting where improvement has occurred and focussing on strategies to help the student work effectively on fixing problem areas. My university timetable is quite full, but I am generally available Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings as well as at weekends (a preferable option as I often think that students are too tired to focus on yet more learning after a full day of school).
