I am a Senior High School Mathematics and ESL Teacher. I have been working as a maths teacher since 2005 and I was tutoring prior to that - currently working in the Redlands area so I am able to drive to locations after school or meet around the Sunnybank / Robertson area in my private tutor studio. I have a private area for study for up to 5 students at a time. I am available after school hours and weekends - exact details will be worked out after initial contact. I have had a diverse range of students ranging from primary school students all the way up to year 12 students. I also have 2 years of experience teaching ESL to adult students - mainly the IELTS test so I can help with preparation for the IELTS test. I am currently undertaking my CELTA course which gives me qualifications to teach ESL to adults wanting to improve their English skills – namely the IELTS test which is a pathway into university for non-English speaking students My aim is to find out the prior knowledge of students and develop individual learning plans based off assessment tasks, student goals and parental expectations. Parents will be informed of progress and plans on a weekly basis. I will also develop study programs to ensure students are well prepared for assessment time. Depending on the students, homework or additional work will be assigned. My teaching strategy is based around students being comfortable and eager to learn - if the student does not enjoy the time with the tutor, then I believe I will be a less effective tutor. Being a teacher and a tutor for several years in Mathematics, I understand that each child is different however all parents and students want the same thing - success in education. Like any high school teacher, I have also taught a broad range of subjects up to year 10 standard including all strands of Science, English, Social Science and Computing subjects so I can also provide assistance in other areas.
