I have a Diploma from The English Language Centre, London, in teaching English as a second language, and six years of experience in private tutoring as well as experience teaching in an English language college in Indonesia. I love the English language and I know it well. I am also a professional writer of feature articles for a major South East Asian newspaper, The Jakarta Post. I love meeting people from other countries and helping them to improve their English skills. I enjoy hearing about their countries and families, and I also enjoy giving advice on cultural differences and any other help that my students need. My interest in other cultures and differing ways of life, and my travel experience assists me to understand my students' backgrounds. For people who wish to begin learning Bahasa Indonesia to enrich their travel experience, I can introduce you to everyday language and advise you on the cultural ways of Indonesians. I especially enjoy teaching Bahasa Indonesia, and many of my students to date, have been surfers who go to Indonesia regularly. They have formed friendships, and want to be able to communicate better with their Indonesian friends. My own long history of being involved in surfing and as an ex-champion of my country, helps me to share the experience with them too. I too have many friends in Indonesia, having lived there for several years in the past. I still return to Indonesia for several months each year. For Art students, I have designed a drawing course for beginners, which gives a foundation for all your further adventures in drawing and painting. This course has been very successful for many past students of mine. I taught and developed this course over many years and it led on to some of my students becoming very proficient, and even having their own exhibition.
