Are you frustrated with study? Wondered "when am I even going to use this", "how will this help me get a job" or been bored with taking subjects just to get into the course which you hope will land you your dream job. Or are you just drifting along with study, unsure of what career path you would like to take? I am able to help with getting you motivated in your Maths, Science and Humanities studies (I have a passion for learning and have experienced its positive influence in my life. I believe the best way to learn is the take the role of teacher yourself and to attempt to explain your existing knowledge to someone with no knowledge of the field you are studying. Through this process you will realise where your knowledge is lacking and go back to some more study to fill in your gaps. I don't believe in learning as a way of competing with other students. Only through pacing yourself and getting help from study groups/friends/professionals (including teachers and person's paid to work in a subject area) can you gain understanding. Once understanding is there you will have your knowledge as a tool for t he rest of your life. I believe "having a go" is the most important thing to do when studying. Having a go again and again will improve your knowledge. Students learn at different rates but we can all improve. Using an example from my own experience - I am the most tone-deaf singer on the planet. Nails running on chalkboard is better than hearing me sing. Yet over the course of practicing scales each day over two years I can sing in tune with a song I hear on the radio. I believe people have different gifts. Some of us don't naturally like study. I do but I realise other people like other things which they are of course much better than me at. Because of this I believe in showing students that if they give their subject area a go they may actually end up enjoying it. And if they don't then at least they will develop their character and pass their subject. I offer study method advice for free over the phone and can recommend great books to help you understand better (should you not be able to afford tutoring). I also recommend searching Youtube for Khan Academy and online lectures from leading universities (this is all free). Feel free to contact me anytime.
