Hello, I’m James Luu, a student currently majoring in Engineering Science and Anatomy & Human Biology at the University of Western Australia. Throughout my high school years, I have taken subjects in maths, English/literature and science (and had great success doing so). Thus, I believe that I have the knowledge and skills required to tutor secondary students in these particular areas. I feel that tutoring has many benefits. Not only does it have a positive impact on the future of those being tutored, but on society as well. The knowledge students gain from tuition lessons helps to better equip them for their future jobs. Students who are better equipped have the potential to carry out their job better, and ultimately, contribute more to their society. Additionally, tutoring secondary students gives me the opportunity to revise key fundamental concepts which are involved in the units I take at university (maths and engineering science, in particular). Hence, I believe that tutoring benefits (most importantly) the student, but also the tutor as well. I intend to begin my lessons with students informing me of the topic(s) they are learning at school, and raising any queries/difficulties in relation to them. The rest of the lesson time will be spent resolving those difficulties and ensuring that sound understanding of the topic is achieved. I am a patient person, so will try my best to give students solid understanding of troubling concepts, regardless of how long it may take.
