Paper 1, Paper 2 5 marks Difficulty 4

Calculate heat absorbed by solution

In a water-heating experiment, \(100\,\text{g}\) of water warms by \(14^{\circ}\text{C}\). Use \(q=mc\Delta T\), with \(c=4.18\,\text{J g}^{-1}\,^{\circ}\text{C}^{-1}\), and give \(q\) in kJ. Use the energy diagram labels first, then calculate carefully. Enter the answer and choose the interpretation that matches the chemistry.
