English A exam practice: Analyse irony and contradiction

A short story scene where a generous speech is followed by a selfish act shows a gap between what a character says and what the scene reveals. Choose the focus that explains the contradiction. Use the visual organiser to keep the claim, evidence, method, and effect connected. Choose the analytical focus, evidence choice, and technique choice, then select the interpretation that best explains reader position, meaning, or comparison.

Worked practice: build the analysis

Construct the analysis one move at a time, the way an examiner reads it: focus, evidence, technique, then effect.
