IB skill practice

Identify key features of quadratic functions

Find intercepts, axis of symmetry, vertex, domain, and range from a quadratic in expanded or factorised form, with solution language suitable for IB markschemes.

Paper 1 6 marks Difficulty 3

Compare expanded and factorised information

The same quadratic can be written as \(f(x)=-2x^{2} + 8x + 64\) and \(f(the requested value(x + 4)(x - 8)\). Use the most useful form to find the \(x\)-intercepts, \(y\)-intercept, axis, vertex, and range.

Worked practice: read the quadratic graph

Work through the graph features in order. You can type plain text or LaTeX-style notation.
