Lattice multiplication (also known as the grid method) is a visual way to multiply numbers. It uses a grid where each cell contains the product of the corresponding digits, split into tens and ones places.

How it works:

1. Draw a grid based on the number of digits in each number
2. Write one number across the top and the other down the side
3. In each cell, multiply the corresponding digits
4. Write the tens digit in the upper left and ones digit in the lower right of each cell
5. Draw diagonal lines through each cell
6. Add up the numbers along each diagonal, carrying when necessary
7. Read the answer from left to right along the bottom and right edges
