Rounding Rules
How to Round Numbers:
- Look at the digit to the right of the place you want to round to
- If that digit is 5 or greater, round up
- If that digit is less than 5, round down
- Replace all digits to the right with zeros (or remove them for decimals)
Examples:
Round to whole number:
- 3.4 → 3 (4 < 5, round down)
- 3.6 → 4 (6 ≥ 5, round up)
- 3.5 → 4 (5 = 5, round up)
Round to 1 decimal place:
- 3.47 → 3.5 (7 ≥ 5, round up)
- 3.43 → 3.4 (3 < 5, round down)
- 3.45 → 3.5 (5 = 5, round up)
