About This Experiment
Explore image formation using the thin lens equation: 1/f = 1/do + 1/di, where f is focal length, do is object distance, and di is image distance. The magnification m = -di/do determines image size and orientation. Positive magnification indicates an upright image, while negative indicates inverted.
Compare how converging (convex) and diverging (concave) lenses and mirrors form different types of images. Real images form when light actually converges, while virtual images appear to form but cannot be projected on a screen. Ray tracing helps visualize how light paths determine image characteristics.
