About This Experiment
Explore magnetic field patterns created by different sources. Bar magnets show dipole fields with north and south poles. Solenoids create uniform internal fields with strength B = μ₀nI where n is turns per unit length. Straight wires produce circular field patterns around them.
Use the right-hand rule to determine field directions: point your thumb in the direction of current, and your fingers curl in the direction of the magnetic field. Parallel wires carrying current in the same direction attract each other, while opposite currents repel.
