About This Experiment
Power transmission efficiency depends on voltage levels due to the relationship P=I²R for power loss in transmission lines. Transformers step up voltage for efficient long-distance transmission, reducing current and minimising resistive losses. High voltage transmission lines operate at hundreds of kilovolts before being stepped down for safe consumer use. This system enables the modern electrical grid.
