Definition of Qualitative Data
Qualitative Data is data that describes something, as opposed to quantitative data, which consists of numbers and measurements.
You would collect qualitative data if you asked open-ended questions like "Why do you like going to the beach?" on a survey.
Some other examples of qualitative data include
- The reasons why people like eating at restaurants.
- The problems people face when moving house.
- The ways people describe the flavour of a new soft drink.
