Definition of Quantitative Data
Quantitative Data is data that measures or counts the number of something, as opposed to qualitative data, which consists of descriptions of things and opinions.
You would collect quantitative data if measured the heights of all of your friends.
Some other examples of quantitative data include
- The number of jelly-beans in a bag.
- The weights of cans of baked beans.
- The numbers of missing pieces in the jigsaw puzzles on sale at an op shop.
Description
The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a student.
