Tasmanian Devil Unzoo
Tasmanian Devil Unzoo
Welcome to the future!
Our world first Unzoo project offers you the chance to discover the unique animals and plants of Tasmania in a large native botanic garden.
We offer interesting Tasmanian devil presentations every hour or so where you can come face to face with these wonderful little marsupials. You'll learn about our vital contribution to the Tasman Peninsula Devil Conservsation Project to save the only isolated, natural, healthy population of endangered Tasmanian devils.
Along the trails you can hand feed friendly forester kangaroos and laugh at cheeky little parrots in Tasmania's only bird show.
You'll also meet endemic quolls and pademelons and walk among wild honeyeaters and wallabies.
Established in 1978, Tasmanian Devil Unzoo is committed to the conservation of the Tasmanian devil, which is threatened by a fatal contagious cancer.
Visitor entrance fees assist wild devil monitoring to ensure our region remains disease-free.
We are open daily (except 25 December) at Taranna, about a one-hour drive (88 km) south-east of Hobart on the way to Port Arthur on Tasman Peninsula.
