The Christchurch Botanic Gardens are in heart of the city, in a loop in the Avon River and bordered by Hagley Park. Within twenty-one hectares you can see rose gardens, water gardens, conservatories housing cacti and tropical plant collections, a native New Zealand garden, herb garden and much more, surrounded by lawns and mature trees. Admission is free and the Gardens are open from 7am every day of the year. Visit the Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre for free maps and walking guides to make the most of your visit, enjoy a coffee in ilex cafe or pick up a botanically themed gift from the giftshop. Parking is available in the Armagh Street or Riccarton Ave car parks. Mobility scooters and wheelchairs are available to hire free of charge.
