Definition of Fahrenheit

Definition of Fahrenheit

Fahrenheit is a scale for measuring temperature in the Imperial system.

It tells you how hot or cold something is. For example, water boils at \(212^\circ F\) and freezes at \(32^\circ F\).

Your grandparents may talk about temperatures in \({}^\circ F\). Here's a formula for converting them to temperatures in \({}^\circ C\) (degrees Celsius):

\( \text{Celsius Temperature} = \dfrac{5}{9}(\text{Fahrenheit Temperature} - 32). \)
