Definition of Ordering

An ordering is a way of arranging a collection of numbers or objects.

The objects or numbers are placed in order, according to some rule.

For example, the elephants in the picture are placed in order of increasing height.

You can place the numbers \(\{5,7,3,1,4\}\) in decreasing order as follows:

\(7,5,4,3,1\).
