Chinatown
Chinatown

Adelaide's Chinatown is located adjacent the Adelaide Central Markets between Grote and Gouger Streets. Two large Paifang, a type of traditional Chinese archway, mark the opposite entrances of Moonta Street and are guarded by Chinese lion statues which were donated by the Adelaide City Council and by the Chinese government.
A feast of Asian restaurants and grocery stores line the street which is decorated with red lanterns and pagodas. Restaurant seating spills out onto the paved streets creating a lively atmosphere.
Chinatown hosts a number of celebrations throughout the year, the largest is the official Lunar New Year celebrations. Colourful parades with music, traditional performances and a Chinese dragon are an experience not to be missed.
Plenty of public transport will take you to Chinatown, including the Adelaide Free Bus that stops at the Grote Street entrance and the tram stop just a few minutes walk away in Victoria Square, Chinatown is a must visit inclusion to your Adelaide itinerary.
