Definition of Litre
A litre is a metric unit of volume, that is usually used to measure the volume of liquids.
However, you can buy fruit and vegetables by the litre at some markets in Europe!
The abbreviation for a litre is \(L\).
Each litre is equal to \(1,000 \text{ millilitres}\) (mL).
Milk is often sold by the litre. The bottle of milk in the picture contains 1 L of milk.
