Math Definitions - Letter P

Problem

Definition of Problem

A problem is something that needs to be solved.

Maths textbooks sometimes call questions that need to be solved on paper, rather than in your head, problems.

Some problems use words such as "If Alice bought 3 apples for 10 cents each and 5 pears for 15 cents each, how much did she spend?"

Other problems use equations. A problem like this might ask you to solve \(x + 7 = 15\).
