Definition of Argument

Definition of Argument

An argument for a function is an independent variable. It is an input value that determines the result of applying the function.

For example, imagine that we can find a function that will tell us the length of a goanna, based on its age.

Suppose we have the following function for the length of our goanna:

\(l(\text{year}) = 25 \times \text{year}\),

so that the goanna grows \(25\text{ cm}\) every year.

Then "year" is an argument for the goanna length function "l"
