Definition of Decimal Number
A decimal number is a number that includes a decimal point, followed by digits representing multiples of the fractions \(\dfrac{1}{10}\), \(\dfrac{1}{100}\), \(\dfrac{1}{1000}\) and so on.
For example,
- \(0.63\) is a decimal number, which is equivalent to \(\dfrac{63}{100}\).
- \(256.32\) is a decimal number, which is equivalent to \(256 \; \dfrac{32}{100} = 256 \; \dfrac{8}{25}\).
