A degree is a measure of how hot or cold it is (the temperature).

We use the symbol \({}^\circ\) for degrees.

There are a number of different temperature scales in use. In Australia we use the Celsius scale \({}^\circ C\). Your grandparents and American friends might be more familiar with the Fahrenheit scale \({}^\circ F\). Scientists sometimes use the Kelvin scale.

For example, today the temperature is \(25^\circ C\), it is a pleasantly warm Summer day.

Description

The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a studen
