Definition of Degree (Temperature)
A degree is a measure of how hot or cold it is (the temperature).
We use the symbol \({}^\circ\) for degrees.
There are a number of different temperature scales in use. In Australia we use the Celsius scale \({}^\circ C\). Your grandparents and American friends might be more familiar with the Fahrenheit scale \({}^\circ F\). Scientists sometimes use the Kelvin scale.
For example, today the temperature is \(25^\circ C\), it is a pleasantly warm Summer day.
