Definition Equal Sign
The equal sign is the symbol \(=\)
It tells us that the things on either side of it are equal to each other.
For example,
- \(2 \times 2 = 4\) means that 2 times 2 is equal to 4.
- \(3 + 6 = 9\) means that 3 plus 6 is equal to 9.
- \(1 \text{ kg} = 1,000 \text{ g}\) means that one kilogram is equal to one thousand grams.
- \(60 \text{ minutes}= 1 \text{ hour}\) means that sixty minutes is equal to one hour.
Description
The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a student.
