Definition of Ternary
A Ternary Number is a number that includes only the digits \(0\), \(1\) and \(2\). It is a number written in base 3.
For example, the ternary number \(12\) is equal to \(1 \times 3 + 2 \times 1 = 5\) as a base 10 number.
The ternary number, \(120\) is equal to \( 1\times 3^2 + 2 \times 3 + 0 \times 1 = 15\) as a base 10 number.
Description
