Math Definitions - Letter T
Chapters
Trillion
Definition of Trillion
An (American) trillion is a million millions, so it is equal to \(1,000,000 \times 1,000,0000 = 1,000,000,000,000\).
This is a 1 with 12 zeroes. So, it can be written in scientific notation as \(1 \times 10^{12}\).
Note: A British billion is the same thing as an (American) trillion. The American terminology is most commonly used today, but it's just as well to make sure.
