Definition of Expression
An expression is a group of numbers, variables and operators (such as \(-\), \(+\), \(\times\) and \(\div\)) that are combined together to give a value.
For example, \(3 \times 5 \) is an expression, as is \(23x - 5y + 17z \div 245 - 8xy \times 3\).
Description
The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a student.
