Definition of Random Sample
A random sample is a selection of objects that is chosen purely by chance.
For example, if you wanted to survey \(100\) people to find out what their favourite shopping centre in Sydney was, choosing the first \(100\) people you saw near Market City might be a bad choice, as it is likely that many of them would say "Market City". You would get more meaningful results by choosing a random sample from the whole population of Sydney.
