Rise
Definition of Rise
The Rise of a line is the amount that it's \(y\)-values increase (the amount that the line goes up) for a given distance along the \(x\)-axis (amount that the line goes across).
The slope (or gradient) of a line is given by "rise over run" \(= \dfrac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}}\).
In Australia, we usually call the rise the vertical rise and the run the horizontal run.
