Definition of Real Number
The real numbers are the numbers that we use in our day to day lives, without really thinking about them.
They include positive and negative numbers, all the fractions, all the whole numbers, and all the decimal numbers (terminating, repeating and non-repeating).
Real numbers can be rational or irrational numbers.
Some examples of real numbers are \(2\), \(376.67\), \(-27.523\), \(\dfrac{1}{2}\), \(\sqrt{2}\) and \(\pi\).
Description
The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a student.
