Definition of Solution
A solution to a mathematical equation is a value you can replace the variable by to make it true.
For example, the equation in the picture has the solution \(x = 6\).
The equation, \(x - 3 = 4\) has the solution \(x = 7\), because when we replace \(x\) by \(7\), we get the true statement, \(7 - 3 = 4\).
