Definition of Similar
We say that two geometric shapes are similar if you can form one from the other by moving, flipping, enlarging and/or shrinking it, without changing the proportions of the original object.
For example, the two objects in the picture are similar. One is formed from the other by shrinking it and flipping it over.
Description
The aim of this dictionary is to provide definitions to common mathematical terms. Students learn a new math skill every week at school, sometimes just before they start a new skill, if they want to look at what a specific term means, this is where this dictionary will become handy and a go-to guide for a student.
