Definition of Cardinal Number
A cardinal number is a counting number. It tells us how many of a certain type of object there are.
The cardinal numbers are numbers like one, two, twenty-seven, and six hundred and seventy-nine.
For example, the cardinal number telling us how many coins there are in the picture is six.
