Definition of Cross Section

A cross section is what you see when you cut through something from top to bottom (or side to side).
The picture shows a cross section of a cabage.
Cross sections make it easy to understand the composition of solid objects.
In geometry, a cross section is the shape you see when you make a cut through a solid, parallel to its base. All the cross sections of prisms have the same size and shape.

Description
