Math Definitions - Letter C
Chapters
Cent
Definition of Cent
A cent is one hundredth of a dollar.
Australia used to have \(1\)-cent pieces. The picture shows what they used to look like. We got rid of them because they weren't worth very much, and it cost a lot more than \(1 \text{cent}\) to make them.
Other countries such as New Zealand, Canada and the US also have \(100\) cents in their dollars. There are also one hundred cents in each Euro.
We use the abbreviation \(c\) to mean "cents".
