Complement
Definition of Complement
In probability, the complement of an event is the set of all ways that the event does not occur.
For example, the set of all possible outcomes of drawing one ball from the bag in the picture is \(\{\text{red},\text{blue},\text{green}\}\).
The complement of drawing a green ball is the set \(\{\text{red},\text{blue}\}\).
If you take the union of the event and its complement, you get the set of all possible outcomes.
